How to Pick the Right Rig

Rig selection comes down to three things: how far the concrete needs to travel (reach), how much needs to go down and how fast (yardage/hour), and how much room you have to stage equipment (footprint). Tight residential lots and backyard access almost always call for a trailer line pump; large commercial slabs, multi-story pours, or sites with obstacles between the truck and the pour point need a boom. Not sure which applies to your job? See our full boom pump vs. line pump breakdown, or just call dispatch — we'll match the rig to the job.

Portal-to-Portal Minimum: 4 Hours ($750 - $900)
  • Leaves zero footprint—no outrigger setup required
  • Protects patios & asphalt curbs from cracked load stress
Low-Clearance & Indoor Placement

20-Meter City Boom

Engineered for tight indoor warehouse repairs, casting concrete underneath utility structures, or residential alleyways under heavy tree canopies.

Vertical / Horizontal Reach: 64 ft / 53 ft
Unfolding Height Clearance: 15.8 ft (Low-Profile Setup)
Outrigger Footprint: 16 ft Front x 18 ft Side
Max Outrigger cylinder Load: 34,000 lbs
  • Short unfolding configuration prevents indoor roof collisions
  • Tight outrigger setup is perfect for single-lane urban streets

Structural Staging Logistics

Outrigger Loads & Soil Bearing Pressure (SBP) Guidelines

Operating heavy boom pumps in Jacksonville’s sandy and clay-heavy soils (Duval, St. Johns, and Nassau counties) requires meticulous ground-pressure planning. If a boom cylinder exerts pressure exceeding the soil’s bearing limit, the truck risks ground failure, tipping, or severe structural damage.

Heavy Timber Dunnage Blocks:

Our operators carry certified dunnage timbers. These blocks spread the outrigger's point pressure over a wider footprint, effectively dropping the ground pressure below the warning limits.

Uncompacted Backfill & Soil Safety:

Never permit setup on loose, sandy topsoil, wet mud washouts, or uncompacted foundation backfill. Ensure the staging zone is clean, graded, and structurally stabilized.

Rigging Setup Checklist

  • Overhead Clearances Verify a 20-foot radial utility wire safety clearance zone under all JEA utility cables.
  • Hopper Back-in Space Provide a flat, compacted pathway at least 12 feet wide for ready-mix concrete mud truck backing.
  • EPA Washout Containment Ensure a compliant washout area (washout box or plastic pool shell) is available on site before operator deployment.

Common Questions

Equipment FAQ

How do I know which boom size I need? +
Tell dispatch your horizontal and vertical distance from the likely staging area to the farthest point of the pour, plus any obstacles (structures, power lines, excavations) in the way. We'll match that against our fleet's reach specs — from the compact 20-meter city boom to the 52-56 meter civil boom — and confirm before booking.
Are your rigs inspected and DOT compliant? +
Yes. Every rig in our fleet undergoes daily hydrostatic pressure testing and DOT compliance checks before leaving the yard, and all operators are ACPA-certified. We carry $5M in general liability coverage on commercial jobs.
Can I request a specific rig by name? +
You can request a specific class of rig (e.g. 47-meter boom), and we'll confirm which unit is on the dispatch board for your date. We can't guarantee a specific individual truck due to maintenance rotation and scheduling, but we do guarantee the specs you booked.
What happens if the wrong rig gets dispatched for the job? +
This is rare because we confirm reach, yardage, and site access with you before dispatch — but if site conditions turn out to require different equipment than planned, our dispatcher will work to get the correct rig rerouted as quickly as possible. Accurate site details up front is the best way to avoid this entirely.
