Mobilization Fees Explained

Travel Coefficients & Surcharges

Moving heavy diesel machinery across Northeast Florida is not free. We charge flat mobilization surcharges based on portal-to-portal distance from our Jacksonville dispatch yard. All zones are calculated from the point of equipment departure, not city limits.

EPA Washout Compliance Fee

Florida environmental rules prohibit concrete slurry from entering storm drains or coastal sands. If the GC does not provide a compliant washout pit or portable bin on-site, we charge a flat $150 containment fee to transport residual material back to our facility. See our EPA washout setup specifications before your pour date.

After-Hours & Emergency Dispatch

Emergency pours scheduled outside standard hours (6AM–5PM Mon–Sat) carry a $250 emergency dispatch surcharge in addition to standard rates. Pre-scheduled weekend pours booked 48+ hours in advance are exempt from emergency fees.

Downtime Mitigation

What Triggers Cost Overruns — and How to Avoid Them

Ready-mix yards charge demurrage. Concrete sets in Florida humidity. The following conditions trigger standby billing or site cancellation fees — plan around them before dispatch day.

Stiff Mix / Slump Violations

Mixes below a 4-inch slump create aggregate bridging and pipeline plug risks under boom hydraulic pressure. Blockage cleanouts result in standby time billed to the GC. Coordinate slump with your batch plant — do not add water at the truck.

Required slump specs →

Ready-Mix Delays & Demurrage

Staggered truck arrivals or excess spacing in your pour queue cause pump idle time. Every hour past the scheduled pour window is billed at the equipment's overtime rate. Proper queue coordination directly limits both demurrage and pump overtime.

Unstable Outrigger Staging

ACPA-certified operators cannot set up on loose Florida sand, utility trenches, or soft fill without engineered dunnage cribbing. Arriving to an unprepared site triggers a show-up fee. Clear a firm, compacted 12-ft access path before dispatch arrives.

Frequently Asked Questions

Concrete Pump Pricing — Common Questions

Questions about how concrete pumping is billed are among the most common we receive from first-time GCs and residential contractors. We've answered the most critical ones here.

Ask Dispatch Directly
How much does concrete pumping cost in Jacksonville, FL?
Concrete pumping in Jacksonville is billed on a portal-to-portal hourly minimum plus a per-cubic-yard placement fee. Ground line trailer pumps start at $750–$900 for a 4-hour minimum. 38-meter boom pumps range from $1,200–$1,350. 47-meter heavy boom pumps start at $1,600–$1,800. Per-yard fees range from $3.00 to $5.00 depending on equipment type.
What does "portal-to-portal" mean on a concrete pump invoice?
Portal-to-portal billing means the clock starts when our pump truck leaves our dispatch yard and stops when it returns. The standard 4-hour minimum covers total equipment travel time plus on-site placement. This is the industry-standard billing method used by all ACPA member operators in Florida.
Do you charge a travel fee for jobs outside Jacksonville?
Yes. Duval County (Zone 1) has no flat mobilization surcharge — travel is absorbed in the portal-to-portal minimum. St. Johns, Clay, and Nassau counties (Zone 2) carry a $150 flat mobilization fee. Outer metro counties including Baker, Flagler, and Putnam (Zone 3) are billed at $3.50 per mile from county boundary to job site.
What happens if my ready-mix trucks are delayed on-site?
Idle pump time caused by ready-mix supplier delays is billed at the equipment's standby rate — $150/hr for line pumps, $225/hr for 38M, and $300/hr for 47M equipment. Pre-scheduling your truck queue before pour day is the most effective way to avoid this cost. See our ready-mix queue scheduling guide.
Is there a fee if the job site isn't ready when the pump arrives?
Yes. If our operator arrives and cannot safely set up due to unstable ground, blocked access, or insufficient outrigger clearance, a show-up fee applies. Review our job site preparation checklist to ensure your site is ready at dispatch arrival.
What concrete slump is required for boom pump operation?
We require a consistent 4-inch to 6-inch slump from your ready-mix provider. Mixes stiffer than 4 inches risk aggregate bridging in the boom pipeline under high hydraulic pressure. Never instruct a truck driver to add water at the site — use superplasticizers at the batch plant instead. More detail in our slump specification guide.
